What is a VIN?Every vehicle manufactured has a unique 17-character vehicle identification number (VIN). Vehicles manufactured prior to 1981 have fewer characters. Characters within a VIN indicate a vehicle's year, make, model, where it was manufactured, and more. The VIN can be found by looking through the windshield near the top of the hood on the dashboard on the driver side of the vehicle. The VIN can also be found on the driver side door jamb. The VIN will also be displayed on the engine, under the hood and on other body parts. |
