Motorists in Tallahassee, Florida might have been surprised to see a procession of tow trucks with lights, sirens and Christmas music rolling through town this past December. For the holiday season, Tallahassee towing operators got into the Christmas spirit by organizing Tallahassee’s first annual “Trucks for Tots” parade. Thirteen local towing companies participated in the parade to support special needs children and veterans in the area.

Florida Lenders and BHPH Dealers: ELT is Here

As of January 1, 2013, the new Florida Electronic Lien and Title (ELT) process is mandatory for any business that finances vehicles, vessels or mobile homes in Florida. Under the new system, liens will be maintained electronically. The new requirements are a change for many dealers, but transitioning to an electronic system should reduce title fraud and provide faster notification of lien satisfactions.

Even though it has been almost two months since Hurricane Sandy struck the east coast, and floodwaters damaged tens of thousands of vehicles, water- logged cars are still flowing into the salvage auctions from flood damaged areas. As the insurance companies complete their portion of the process and the auctions take over, ADD would like to remind all businesses that buy or sell these salvage vehicles to make sure the vehicles get reported to National Motor Vehicle Title Information System as required.

As of January 1, 2013, under s. 319.27 and s. 328.15 of the Florida Statute, an Electronic Lien and Title (ELT) process is mandatory for Buy-Here, Pay-Here dealers, finance companies, or any entity that finances vehicles, vessels or mobile homes in Florida.

On Monday January 14, 2013, ADD launched a motor vehicle record verification system for government entities. Now, ADD users will see a barcode in the upper right corner of printed DMV123 records (the barcode won’t be visible on the on-screen record). ADD created the record verification process to help tax collectors and other government entities verify the authenticity of out-of-state records presented by ADD customers.
