As of February 1st, 2017, participation in the new South Carolina Electronic Lien and Title service will become mandatory for South Carolina businesses that finance vehicles, vessels or mobile homes. Mandatory compliance for all lienholders will be in effect by August 1st of 2017. The Driver’s Privacy Protection Act, or DPPA, is a federal law that protects the personal and private information that is included in a person’s motor vehicle record. The information found in ADD’s DMV123 record searches, such as vehicle owner’s names and addresses, are protected by the DPPA regulations, and in order to be able to access this search through ADD, a business must have a “permissible use” for the data. A permissible use means that a business or “authorized recipient” is only allowed to access the information for one of a specific set of reasons defined in the DPPA rules.

Auto Data Direct, Inc., today announced the addition of Michele Murray to its tow/wrecker operator services team. She will use her expertise to act as an industry liaison and provide marketing and industry integration services to ADD customers. Ms. Murray has over 14 years of experience in the towing industry as an owner/operations manager of Professional Parking Services in Tallahassee, Florida. The company is the largest private property tow company in the city with an average of 12,000 vehicles towed each year. During her time working directly in the industry, she enhanced office processes and improved accountability. She successfully reduced company costs by initiating changes such as outsourcing payroll and re-negotiating contracts with insurance carriers. She played a key role in working with local officials to obtain a tow rate increase for private property towing companies in the county and city.
