Why does the SCRAP report for a VIN still appear in my Record Manifest after I have reported it with a disposition of CRUSH? How can I find all vehicles obtained from a specific company or individual? ADD’s wonderful customer service staff answers some common questions about ADD’s NMVTIS reporting tools.
Q: Why does the SCRAP report for a VIN still appear in my Record Manifest
after I have reported it with a disposition of CRUSH?
One of the goals of NMVTIS is to create a history and chain of possession for each vehicle reported. Each NMVTIS report creates a new record and adds the new report to all previous reports for that VIN record in the NMVTIS database. When you make a second, updated report, you are not changing the initial SCRAP report; you are creating a new CRUSH report to be added to the records for that VIN.
Q: How can I find all vehicles obtained from a specific company or
individual?
ADD’s Record Manifest allows you to select the information displayed. To customize your manifest, click the Add/Remove Columns button at the bottom of the screen. When the menu appears, check the box next to the information you would like to include. If you are looking for all vehicles received from a specific company or individual, check the Vehicle Obtained From box and click OK. Next, click the arrows next to the Vehicle Obtained From column heading to sort the names alphabetically. All VINs received from the same company or individuals will be grouped together, allowing you to easily find the records.
Q: What if I reported a vehicle and later discovered that a VIN or other
data element was incorrect?
For incorrect records that have been accepted by the database, you will need to make an error report for the “bad” record. This function is available in all NMVTIS accounts.
Full Service users: Click the eraser icon next to the incorrect record in the Record Manifest.
Basic Service users: Enter the VIN and Record ID on the Report Record Error tab.
Submission of an error report requires the you to provide a short comment explaining the nature of the error. After the error report has been made, you will need to report the correct information to NMVTIS. Step-by-step instructions are available on the NMVTIS News tab by clicking the Correcting Records link.
Q: How do I get a list of all my reported vehicles in my Record Manifest?
Full Service Account users have the ability to create a customizable list of all records reported.
After you have logged into your ADD account, click the NMVTIS Vehicle Upload tab, then the Record Manifest sub-tab. Using the filters at the top of the page, select Date Range: All Time and click Apply Filters. This will display a scrolling list of all reported junk and salvage vehicles.
To print a list of reported vehicles, click the checkbox on the left of the gray bar above your vehicle entries. This will select all of your records.
Once the records are selected, you have several options:
Print Selected Records prints a one-page receipt for each vehicle. Users can print summary or detailed records receipts.
- Export creates a spreadsheet containing the Record Manifest information.
- Export Batch Format creates an upload file from previously reported records for batch crush reporting.
To print a list of all reported records, users should select the Export button at the bottom of the manifest.
When asked to select an Export Format , choose Comma Separated (Recommended ) and click OK. Next, select the information you would include in your export, such as VIN, Reference ID, Disposition, etc. and click OK (some basic information is already selected).
When prompted, open the file with Microsoft Excel or Open Office sCalc (you may have to browse to find your spreadsheet program). This will open a spreadsheet with all of the information you chose to include in the export. You can then save the file to your computer and print the report.
